Meet The DIY Backpacker

Testing gear from the inside out.

The Backpacker Pro
Fixer. Programmer. Hiker.

Hi, I’m the founder of The Backpacker Pro. I don’t just look at gear—I understand how it’s built. My journey didn’t start on the trail; it started in the workshop.

Why Trust These Reviews?

I am a certified cell phone repairman and a self-taught computer programmer. I’ve spent my life learning to rebuild engines, repair complex appliances, and understand the mechanics of how things fail.

When I review a backpacking stove, a tent, or a water filter, I’m looking at the stress points, the material quality, and the “repairability” in the field. If it breaks at 10,000 feet, you can’t just call a technician. You need gear that works, and you need to know how to fix it if it doesn’t.

Beyond the Gear

In addition to my love for the outdoors and engineering, I am a passionate advocate for the ADHD community. I regularly share insights and strategies on my Medium blog, TrustTheDIY.

I apply that same “DIY” mentality to everything I do—whether it’s writing code, rebuilding an engine, or navigating a 50-mile loop in the backcountry. My goal is to help you build the skills and find the gear you need to explore the wilderness with confidence.
